FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS A FRUIT OF THE REFORMATION. |
| The Reformation was a return to true Biblical Christianity and an escape from the enslavement of the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Church ruled Europe in the Dark Ages and has been called the most despotic regime that ever ruled the world. Freedom to speak against the Clergy was non-existent. Even kings were afraid of them. |
| With the advent of the printing press Christians started reading the Bible, which had been banned to the layman and not taught in the native languages of the people in the Churches. People everywhere started discussing it and teaching it both in Churches and elsewhere. Many priests rejected the authority of the Catholic Church and taught the authority of the Bible alone. That was the beginning of freedom of speech. It has been well said by priests of the Roman church after reading the Bible, that either the Bible is true or the Church is true, but not both. It should be noted that only in those nations where the Bible is freely available is there freedom of speech. Atheistic nations do not have freedom of speech. Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist nations do not have freedom of speech, particularly freedom to teach the Bible. Jesus says if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Christian nations are free nations. If you do not have freedom of speech, you are effectually enslaved. A serf. |
